Case Study: Large Manor Estate, Wiltshire

Solent Power were tasked with upgrading the existing 15kVA generator and replacing with a new standby generator capable of supplying the entire home with back up power in the event of a power cut.

The current unit at the property was approximately 30-40 years old and only supplied enough power for small essentials such as security systems and lighting.

The Old Generator

After suffering power outages, sometimes lasting several hours and in one case several days we were approached to provide a solution to support the entire home.

We visited site and proposed a 150kVA unit, capable of supplying enough power for the main three phase 200Amp distribution board.

Groundworks were arranged and cable containment into the existing auto transfer switch, and we also upgraded the old changeover controls with a modern Deep Sea Electronics control system to future proof the entire installation.

We chose a reputable UK Perkins generator housed in a silent acoustic canopy to limit noise during operation.

The entire installation was completed in 2 days with minimal interruption to the clients home. The only testing required was on final commissioning to prove the correct automatic operation and changeover of the generator supply during a simulated mains failure.

To add further resilience, we also connected the clients own external fuel tank, with auto top up controls to ensure that the base tank of the generator will be maintained with adequate fuel for extended outages if they occur.

We now have regular servicing in place to ensure the asset is taken care of and remains reliable for years to come.

The result? Total peace of mind for the owner and residents of the home.
