When continuity matters

Protect the systems that keep your site operating

A 600kVA generator can support a substantial critical load, but the set alone does not create a reliable power supply. The electrical demand, control panel, fuel arrangement, installation and support plan need to work together.

For estates and operations teams, this means clearer responsibility for the complete power system. For engineers and consultants, it means practical decisions can be assessed against the site’s actual power needs.

Without us, you risk...

Unplanned downtime when a standby system has not been maintained or proven under load.

Unsuitable capacity when a 600kVA generator is selected from a headline rating rather than the operating requirement.

Compliance gaps where testing, records or system documentation are incomplete.

Fragmented support when different contractors manage the generator, controls, fuel and electrical works without clear accountability.

600kVA generator options

Find the right capacity and configuration for your site

Review suitable 600kVA diesel generator options, or arrange a site survey if you need engineering input. We assess the application, operating profile and resilience requirement, then recommend an appropriate unit and system arrangement.

This helps avoid unnecessary capacity while ensuring the generator is specified for the job it is intended to do.

Tell us what must remain powered and we will help you make a defensible decision.

A fantastic company who have sponsored our football team (Havant & Waterlooville Youth Hawks U18s) which as enabled us to get all the boys custom made hoodies for the 25/26 season.
Response from the owner:Its a pleasure to support mate :) Thanks for the review

It was a pleasure to work with Solent Power on behalf of Riverford Organic Farmers (based on Sacrewell Farm, Peterborough). From the engineers on site to the office staff, everyone was extremely helpful and professional. We now have an operational back up generator to safeguard our business for the future. Special thanks to Paul Phelps and Charmian Heys for organising.
Response from the owner:Thank you Jane....really appreciate the review and its great to hear that the generator covered your 10 hour outage!!! Have a great week :)

How we work

From site requirements to a supported power system

A 600kVA generator project involves more than selecting equipment. We make the process clear, from understanding the site through to commissioning and longer-term support.

01

Site survey

We review the systems that need protection, the site environment, resilience requirement and project constraints. This gives the specification a sound basis before equipment is selected.
02

Specify and deliver

We develop the system around the agreed requirements, then manage supply and installation. Mechanical and electrical works, controls and fuel arrangements can be considered as part of the complete installation.
03

Prove and support

We commission the system and can prove performance under a controlled resistive load. Documentation and planned maintenance support the system after handover.
Why Solent Power

Practical support for 600kVA generator projects

A critical power system needs coordinated decisions before installation and practical support after commissioning.

Turnkey Delivery
We coordinate supply, mechanical and electrical works, fuel systems and commissioning as one connected project.
Load bank tested
Resistive load bank testing places the generator under a controlled electrical demand to verify performance and support the records your site requires.
Rapid Response
Engineers are on call 24/7 for breakdown support and emergency temporary power. Response times are agreed per contract.
Planned Maintenance
Planned maintenance, fuel care and UPS support help keep critical power assets ready for their operating conditions.
Other generator sizes

Find a capacity that fits the critical requirement

A 600kVA generator is not automatically the right answer for every site. Explore other generator capacities, or request a site survey to discuss the system around your application, continuity requirements and budget.

Generator Installation

Installation built around your site and power requirements. We size, supply, install and commission your system.

Service & Maintenance

Fixed-price servicing and planned support to keep your generator ready. Catch faults early and ensure reliable backup power.

Generator Sales

Generator sales backed by practical advice and engineering expertise, with installation and nationwide support.

Generator Hire

Keep your operations running with reliable generator hire backed by installation and maintenance support.

Power continuity expertise

Clear advice for sites where power matters

Solent Power was founded by Paul Phelps, whose background spans power distribution, electrical work and generator systems. That hands-on perspective keeps the focus on what the site needs, how the system will be installed and how it will be supported after commissioning.

“When a site cannot afford to lose power, you need straight advice, a specification you can defend and a team that will still be there after commissioning.”

Make 600kVA power continuity decisions with confidence

When mains power fails, a 600kVA diesel generator must support the critical systems that keep the site operating. For hospitals, data centres, manufacturing facilities and large commercial buildings, this may include essential services, controlled shutdowns or an uninterrupted power supply alongside standby power.

The challenge is not simply choosing a 600kVA generator. A suitable diesel generator depends on the electrical demand, starting requirement, operating profile, control panel, fuel tank arrangement and the difference between standby and prime power. Fuel consumption varies with the engine, loading and operating conditions. A site survey gives engineers the information needed to assess these factors and recommend an appropriate system.

Solent Power is a power continuity partner for commercial and industrial applications. We support specification, supply, installation, commissioning, resistive load bank testing and planned maintenance. A load bank applies controlled electrical demand to help prove generator performance before real power outages. We can also discuss remote monitoring, fuel care and the documents needed at handover.

Start with what needs to remain powered, not a headline rating. Request a site survey to discuss your 600kVA diesel generator requirements, project constraints and support plan.

Technical questions

Questions before you commit to a 600kVA system

Generator projects are shaped by the site, critical power requirements and operating mode. These are the questions worth resolving early with your engineer or consultant, especially for standby power, prime power or a wider critical power package.

How do I know whether a 600kVA diesel generator is the right size?

Start with the systems that must remain powered, including starting currents, operating profile, future requirements and the consequence of failure. A 600kVA rating alone does not confirm suitability. A site survey and engineering assessment help establish the appropriate capacity, configuration and control arrangement.

What is the difference between standby power and prime power?

Standby power supports a site when mains power fails. Prime power is intended for regular operation as a power source, often across changing demands. The appropriate rating depends on the application, expected duty cycle and whether the generator is being used for backup power or more continuous work.

How much fuel does a 600kVA diesel generator use?

Fuel consumption depends on the engine, generator rating, applied demand and operating conditions. Required run time and fuel tank capacity should be considered as part of the system design rather than estimated from a single generic figure.

What should be included in the specification?

A specification should cover the generator, control panel, fuel system, installation method, load testing and site-specific requirements. It may also cover remote monitoring, weather protection, access arrangements and the documents needed at handover. If you are comparing a Perkins diesel generator with other equipment, assess the complete specification and application, not the engine brand alone.

Do 600kVA diesel generators need load bank testing?

Load bank testing applies a controlled resistive electrical demand to the generator. It can help verify performance under demand and identify developing faults before the system is needed during a power outage. The test and resulting documentation should reflect the site’s requirements.

Can Solent Power manage installation, commissioning and support?

Solent Power can support survey, system specification, equipment supply, mechanical and electrical installation, controls, fuel systems, commissioning and planned maintenance. Southern England is the primary area for servicing and rapid response. Larger projects and multi-site contracts can be delivered across the UK.
