Buying a standby generator is a big investment. So it is our mission to share information freely and provide honest support to the market.
By having flexibility of what equipment we can supply and skilled electrical engineers, we can offer a full range of equipment and solutions and provide everything you need to make an informed decision that you are confident with for your standby generator system.
Diesel generators have 3 separate power ratings – standby, prime power and continuous base load. A standby rating is the maximum output and can only be used for up to 1 hour in every 12 hours of normal operation at normal levels. A generator system should always be maintained at the required intervals which is usually twice per year for backup generators and every 500 hours for prime power generator systems.
Your generator system power requirements will need to be assessed by a competent electrician and this involves calculating your maximum load demand. Using this we can select a generator size in kVA that will be suitable.
A standby generator or backup power, is designed to start up automatically and transfer power to your building in the event of a power outage or power cut. For companies with commercial property, standby power generators are important to protect their operations, customers, security systems, life safety and production.
Home standby backup generators are increasingly popular in high end properties. More and more homeowners are realising the benefit of installing home standby generator systems, to provide power in the event of blackouts caused by power cuts and natural disasters.
Most standby power generators are diesel generators due to their reliability and can be configured to start and transfer automatically using an automatic transfer switch or feed the building manually with a manual transfer switch.
