The Cat XQP20 is a compact 20 kVA (16 kW) Stage V diesel rental generator designed for reliable 50 Hz three-phase power in demanding applications. Powered by the proven Cat C2.2 four-stroke diesel engine, it offers consistent performance, excellent fuel economy and a small footprint for easy deployment on constrained sites. Rental-ready construction

The XQP20 is mounted on a heavy-duty fabricated steel base frame with an integrated dual-wall fuel tank sized for approximately 12 hours of runtime at 75% prime load. It includes externally certified single-point lifting, optional forklift pockets and optimized cable entry with robust copper busbar connections to speed up site hook-up. Lockable access doors, a safety-glass viewing window and protected distribution compartment help keep the set secure and safe in rental environments.

Control, monitoring and protection

A Cat GCCP1.3 digital control panel manages engine and alternator functions while providing full power metering and event alarms. Operators can easily view status information and benefit from built-in shutdown protection for conditions such as low oil pressure and high coolant temperature. Two-wire remote start-stop terminals make it straightforward to integrate this generator into automatic transfer switch systems for standby or backup applications.

Alternator and voltage regulation

The generator uses a Cat LC1114M brushless, self-excited alternator matched to the engine for optimum performance. It features Class H insulation, IP23 drip-proof protection and coastal insulation treatment for harsh environments. The R220 automatic voltage regulator maintains stable output with less than ±0.5% voltage variation and low harmonic distortion, supporting sensitive loads.

Low noise and environmental performance

The galvanized, powder-coated enclosure is acoustically treated to deliver low noise levels around 64–65 dB(A) at 7 metres at typical loads, suitable for urban and commercial sites. A dual-wall base tank provides 110% containment of all on-board engine fluids and incorporates a bund level alarm to minimise environmental risk. The engine meets EU Stage V requirements and is approved for ultra-low sulphur diesel with optional biodiesel blends, reducing emissions compared to older generator designs.
