The Cat XQP310 is a 310 kVA (248 kW) Stage V diesel generator designed to provide robust 50 Hz three-phase power for large UK sites. It is powered by the Cat C9.3B turbocharged-aftercooled engine, which combines high output, strong fuel efficiency and a compact footprint for straightforward installation. This set is ideal for industrial, commercial and construction users who require dependable, low-emission power at standard 400/230 V.

Heavy-duty base and fuel system

The generator is mounted on a heavy-duty steel baseframe that incorporates a dual-wall fuel tank sized for around 12 hours of runtime at 75% prime load. Integrated skid plates, drag points and forklift pockets make handling and positioning the unit easier on busy sites. The dual-wall design provides 110% containment of on-board fluids, with a bund level alarm to support environmentally responsible operation.

Control, monitoring and protection

An XQCP digital controller manages the engine and alternator while providing comprehensive power metering and event logging. The front panel offers a clear interface, emergency stop and configurable alarms and shutdowns to help protect both the generator and connected equipment. Two-wire remote start/stop terminals and AC auxiliary power connections allow straightforward integration with automatic transfer switches for standby or mains support use.

Alternator and voltage regulation

The XQP310 uses an LC5114N brushless, self-excited alternator with Class H insulation, IP23 protection and coastal insulation treatment. A three-phase sensing AVR provides adjustable volts-per-hertz regulation and maintains stable output under varying loads. The 12-lead winding supports flexible three-phase reconnection, with low total harmonic distortion suitable for many sensitive loads.

Noise and emissions performance

The galvanized, powder-coated enclosure is acoustically treated with precision-cut insulation to deliver low external noise levels around the generator. This makes it suitable for operation near workplaces, industrial premises and some commercial locations where noise is a concern. The engine and aftertreatment system are engineered to meet stringent EU Stage V emissions limits and are specified for ultra low sulphur diesel with approved biodiesel blends.

Typical applications
